Moon landing FAQ

Why is lunar landing difficult?

The lander must continuously manage downward acceleration while preserving enough fuel to reduce velocity before contact.

Why does acceleration change as fuel burns?

Burning fuel reduces spacecraft mass. With the same thrust, lower mass produces greater acceleration because a = F/m.

What counts as a safe landing here?

The simulation checks vertical speed, horizontal speed and lander orientation at surface contact.
